Lee and Leigh

My husband has been friends with Lee since the 70s and I know this is a longtime before this is before I was born. I offered to take photos for his wedding and he and his soon-to-be bride, also named Leigh, agreed. Lee is also a reader of this blog so I know he has good taste.

Leigh is a florist and she has an exceptional eye for arrangements.

Check out her gorgeous hair and that flower piece.

I love getting shots like these. You can tell they’re just crazy about each other.

No wedding reception is complete without a toddler getting down.

This was the second wedding I shot of the day and as exhausted as I was, I loved this wedding because I could really take my time to get the shots I wanted to, especially since the wedding was held in the penthouse of the Sorrento Hotel and there were gorgeous spots all around.

This weekend reminded me how much fun I have with photography and how close I am to launching my business. I’ve hired a graphic designer to work out all the branding and marketing pieces. I’m going to spend a little more money on my website and portfolio and I’m so happy that I have opportunities like this to bring it all together.

As I was shooting a wedding this weekend for my friends, I had the realization that I am so not meant to be a professional photographer. While it was fun, and I loved being able to do it for my friends for free, I just don’t get the kind of satisfaction out of photography as I do from writing. Plus, it really made me realize how badly I need a better camera.

But that’s so great that you find so much joy in it and are about to parlay your hobby into a career! That’s how it should be!

You're exceptionally talented. I would love to have you shoot me one day–if you need anything for your business and you think I can help out, you know I'm here for you, right? I am! <3

That is awesome, Mona. Can’t wait to see your new website.

I saw those pics on Flickr and thought Leigh was such a beautiful bride. The dress… her hair… her bouquet… just fabulous. She obviously has great taste. Do you know which floral shop she works?

awwww, look how happy they are! :)

Love the pictures. I still wish you weren’t all the way across the country so you could shoot my wedding. (You’re NOT going to be in Minneapolis in 11 days, right?!) :)

I agree – start a photography blog once you get going. From my current perspective, photogs with blogs get a lot more internet-sharing action than those without. And substance is far more important than good html. :) Good luck and congratulations to Lee and Leigh!
