You gotta know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em

Reno!

I just got into Reno for work. The last time I was here was over 10 years ago. We were living in Salem, Oregon then and took a trip over to Circus Circus which was such a ridiculous name for a casino that I didn’t think it was real. I remember my mom had trouble with the slot machine so I helped her pull the lever. Suddenly, a guard appeared and scolded my mom for making an eight-year-old gamble.

I’m here for work so I don’t think I’ll be able to do much. I might use the $10 coupon the hotel gave me but the odds are I’ll be gorging myself at the buffet. You can bet on that.

Are you the gambling kind? If you are, do you ever win? If you do win, can you loan me some money? Come on!

I gamble once a year and I always play roulette. I love it. I take $40 and usually either lose it all or break about even. I’m just happy I can make it last for a good 4 hours or so before the dinner buffet opens!

    Have fun!

Don’t go near the Keno – go straight for the buffet! Take pictures and have fun

  3. keno is so boring! We had lunch and you could play keno at your table to win a free meal. I would have had a better chance of throwing the money on the floor and watching it blow away.

The first time I played slots, I thought I broke the stupid machine because it was beeping and flashing and carrying on – what a dumb ass. It was doing that because I WON.

That is my only gambling experience…

  5. My uncle used to work on the machines in Reno. He swore he’d never play on those things. Stay with the fishing and cheap food.

  6. I’m not really a gamblin’ girl. Although I did play video poker at the Tinian Casino once. Oh! And I went with my ex-boyfriend and his mother to an Indian casino in college…but I don’t remember if I gambled – probably not since I was only 17.

I’m generally risk averse and prefer not to be surprised.

Wow. I sound like the boringest person in the world. I wasn’t always this way.

Okay, yes. When kids would say “you wanna bet?” I’d say “no”.

  7. nononono. I have learned my lesson. For our anniversary one year, My Beloved took me to Vegas. We gave ourselves $40 to gamble with. In one go, I lost half. I suck. I am not lucky, I am not clever, I will never gamble again.
Luckily, My Beloved won back everything I had lost and then some…he is pretty good.

Every time I’ve been to Vegas, we take a roll of quarters and play slots or video poker and usually lose within the first hour if that. Then we go get cheap beer, cheaper steaks and sit and talk to the bartender and people watch the rest of the night. Til we get smoked out! šŸ™‚
