happy fat of july!

rockin the muumuu

rockin the muumuu

I bought this awesome Hawaiian muumuu at a thrift store the other day and I was so excited to finally wear it. I love muumuus. I’d take a floral muumuu over an Old Navy maxi dress any day. They’re roomy and hide my pasty white skin! You don’t have to be ninety to wear them (YEAH YOU AGEISTS!), but they have great features like, this magical frock has a pocket! More room to store my Lipitor pills and bingo markers!

Nathan chilled in the water, having just told the ladies behind him, “Let me introduce myself, my name is Humpty, pronounced with the ‘Umpty.'”

Nathan clung to that bag of teddy grahams at the playground, hurling down the slide with the bag in hand. I’ve noticed that if Nathan has to perform a task, like open the fridge door or climb onto a chair, but he has food in hand, he will attempt to maneuver without dropping the food. FOOD IS VERY IMPORTANT. He is truly my son.

We fell asleep shortly after the fireworks, which is how we normally end all holidays, not with a bang but a whimper.

How was your 4th of July?

omg. i had teddy grahams this weekend too and I dipped them in rainbow chip frosting!

  2. Sorry, I’d say something clever, but the hotness of the muumuu has rendered me speechless.

  3. That looks more like a Hawaiian print dress than a muu muu to me. It’s not shapeless enough!

I love the pictures on this post.

My weekend was good. We spent it with family, which is so much more fun now that I have a kid.

My holiday was mostly dark, except for one beam of light: a delightfully unexpected call from my friend Mona! That made my day! Other than that, it was all doggy tranquilizers and reading applied feminist theory. ; )

  5. I love the dress. Very cute and you wear it well! And good hat too.

  6. That last picture is GORGEOUS!

  7. That photo of your son in the water is hilarious, especially with the caption. Also, I like the dress.

  8. The muumuu works for you.
And I love the final picture of you and your kiddo. So sweet.

  9. First, I laughed. Then, that last photo socked me in the gut with sweetness.

  10. 1) Loving the mu’u mu’u. Someday I’ll be good enough to sew one for myself. 2) Nathan looks like quite the 3-year old seducer! 3) Beautiful mom and son photo.

    That is all.

    I need to pee.

    Talk to you later.

  11. I think there is definitely something to be said for what is UNDER the muumuu. If I put one of them on, I’d look…well, like I ran out of Pall Malls and pork rinds and finally got dressed to go to the corner market.

    Love the pics. šŸ™‚
