I walked into the neighborhood beauty salon and had my bangs cut. I don’t know why I wait until my hair makes me look like I regularly sleep in the trunk of my car before I do anything about it so I figured that the aesthetic skills of the Southeast Asian community would help me.
The Vietnamese woman who took care of me opened up a book of hairstyles. There were a few red flags about hardbound book she showed me. There were a lot of Demi Moore’s Ghost haircut and very 90s fashion trends like velvet chokers, lace vests and sunflowers, but what was worse than selecting a cut from a source so dated, was that all the pictures I was looking at were of CHILDREN. It was like she had opened up my fourth grade class yearbook when we all thought that babydoll dresses were so hip! And Ace of Base’s All That She Wants was the jam! Strangely enough, the lyrics still fit my life: All that she wants is another baby?! She leads a lonely life?! THIS IS MY SOUNDTRACK!
So here’s my circa-1992-Toddlers-&-Tiaras-bangs and a sweet video to serenade you this Friday. It’s all that I want for you.
