I shared recently a video of two phenomenal guitarists who attend a Catholic school on Guam called Mount Carmel School. I’ve come to learn about Mount Carmel School through their recent ad campaign, one of the most creative showcases of how powerful a school can be as evidenced by the students below.
I wish I had just a fraction of that talent.
Or the athletic prowess.
Or the ability to solve any type of math without the help of a calculator and sheer hope. And the answers in the back of the book.
But this commercial struck that chord in me that misses home so much. These prayers are the sounds of my childhood. I spent hours in rosaries listening to the litanies that are the linchpin of the Chamorro culture. And at Mount Carmel School, one does not have to identify with being Chamorro to be included in such a beautiful and important tradition.
I wish my kids could have the fortune of attending such a magnificent school, especially since it results in the kind of leaders, artists, and scholars that makes me hopeful for the future.
If you live on Guam and are looking for a top-rated and affordable education, visit the Mount Carmel website.
